May 9, 2022

In this episode, hosts @mohannadhussain and Prasanth chat with @sylviadevlin about downtime procedures. Whether planned or unplanned, there are many steps that can be taken to mitigate these (mostly) unavoidable events. While most agree that effective planning, monitoring, and communication/follow-up are key to successful execution, the nuances of how to optimize these can be challenging for even an experienced CIIP. System fortification for maximum uptime and seamless failover, detailed scripts for individual systems and processes, and templates for end-user communication are just a few of the topics covered in this deep dive.

Sylvia Devlin has worked in medical imaging for more than half her life and there is no stopping her now. She started as one of the Radiology Department front desk clerk’s after graduating high school while going to medical radiography school. After graduating, Sylvia enjoyed working in various imaging areas but always had a keen interest in pursuing information systems and PACS. Sylvia earned her understudies in Information Systems followed by a Master’s in Informatics Administration.

Today Sylvia is a diplomate of the American Board of Imaging Informatics, earning her CIIP in 2010. She is the Director of Clinical Applications Operations at Radiology Partners and enthusiastically volunteers on many SIIM initiatives and serves as on the SIIM Board of Directors.
